About

ZAG, the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, established in 1949, is the leading Slovenian institute in the construction sector. Its research and services deal with materials, geotechnics and infrastructure, buildings, building physics, fire engineering, circular economy and metrology. In the Construction Products Regulation field, we operate the Certification Service and the Service for Technical Assessments and Approvals. ZAG has currently 254 employees working at the headquarters in Ljubljana, Maribor branch and Fire laboratory in Logatec.

ZAG focuses on materials science, earthquake and infrastructure engineering, fire safety, geotechnics, road and rail infrastructure development, and environmental assessments, including life cycle analysis and sustainable evaluation of buildings. Through these services, ZAG plays a pivotal role in advancing construction practices, ensuring safety, and promoting sustainable development within Slovenia and internationally.

Laboratories

ZAG has over 20 laboratories covering activities within departments for materials, building physics, structures, fire-safe sustainable built environment, geotechnics and infrastructure, and for metrology.
