The GREMO BATMAN investment has been successfully completed

R&D and innovation

The partners of the BATMAN consortium, which we coordinated within the SRIP ACS+ program, have successfully completed the aforementioned GREMO Mission investment after three years of fruitful collaboration. As part of this mission, they developed energy storage systems with a special focus on developing solutions for battery energy storage systems. The final partner meeting took place on Friday, July 3, at Domel in Železniki, where attendees presented the results achieved.

The 14 consortium partners (Beja, Biotera, Domel, Emsiso, Flux Performance, Hidria, Iskra Mehanizmi, Kolektor ATP, Kolektor Mobility, Lotrič meroslovje, Marsi Group, Nela, TAB, and Unior) addressed specific technological and technical challenges related to modern, technologically advanced battery energy storage solutions and supporting manufacturing technologies through the GREMO BATMAN investment between 2023 and 2026. At the same time, they also focused on collaboratively addressing broader issues, where—through the joint development of new solutions, the pooling and transfer of knowledge, the development of staff competencies, strengthening development capabilities, and training new personnel, they built a strong development hub that responds competently and proactively to market expectations.

Through three years of active collaboration, the consortium partners developed numerous innovative solutions, which they presented at the closing meeting held at Domel in Železniki. These solutions have significantly enhanced existing products in line with market demands, led to the development of entirely new products—some of which represent the most technologically advanced solutions with globally recognized innovations—and enabled the development and implementation of new advanced models and tools to optimize research and development activities. In addition, the partners developed new methods for validating battery components and systems during their development and use, as well as new processes serving as the basis for recycling battery components, dismantling entire systems, and recovering key raw materials.

Through the GREMO BATMAN investment, the partners have also directly contributed to an increase in value added per employee, both among consortium members and more broadly across supply chains. The newly developed solutions also require other companies to adapt, and—along with the development of the partners’ ecosystem and the associated culture of collaboration and cooperation—will strengthen their continued development. Through their investment, the partners have enhanced their competencies and, through the joint development of new solutions, networking, and knowledge exchange, have significantly expanded the overall knowledge base at the national level.
