We have entered the last month of the year, so we met with our members at the traditional December meeting. This time, we talked about strategic communication, which is an important part of every organization. We focused on how to create it and why organizations can no longer ignore it. The lecture was given by Katja Krasko Štebljaj, an expert in strategic communication.

The event was opened by Tanja Mohorič, Director of SRIP ACS+, who emphasized that the situation in the Slovenian automotive industry does not indicate a significant decline for 2024. During this period, companies generated more sales, invested more in research and development, and increased the number of employees. According to Mohorič and the available data, last year was a successful one, so she expects this year to be similar.

Next, we focused on strategic communication, which is not just a document in a file, but a way of operating for an organization. When it is absent, we quickly feel it, which is why strategic communication expert Katja Krasko Štebljaj emphasizes that cooperation between various stakeholders, i.e., employees, management, the local community, and the like, is extremely important in this type of communication. There is no place for solo efforts here. A culture of listening is very important, followed by a culture of action.

Krasko Štebljaj also points out that companies communicate too much externally and embellish their public image, while forgetting about communication within the company. Internal communication is essential for good relations within the company. It is also important to listen to employees, give them the opportunity to participate in decision-making, and take their opinions into account. Strategic communication builds unity and trust within the company and enhances its reputation. It also prevents damage and increases psychological security. Managers must view strategic communication as part of leadership, as it sets the tone, clarity, and direction of the company’s development.

At the December meeting, we also presented the ACS Pen Award for the first time. It is intended for individuals who, through their knowledge, dedication, and collaborative approach, make a significant contribution to the development of ACS. This year, it was awarded to Marjeta Žonta, Head of Sustainability at Kolektor for ESG sustainability reporting, and Dr. Iztok Seljak, long-time director of Hidria and ambassador of the GREMO Mission, a driving force in promoting the green, electric, and digital transition of mobility.

The award ceremony was followed by an expert explanation and tasting of various boutique beers from the Pelicon microbrewery and a relaxed get-together, where we reminisced about the events of the past year and looked ahead to the future. The new year will certainly be full of challenges in all areas, which we at SRIP ACS+ are already looking forward to and are optimistic about the future. We therefore wish all members happy holidays, continued success in their work, and a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2026.
